A notice is a formal means of  communication. It contains news /information about something that has happened or is likely to happen. They are generally meant to put up on specific display boards, whether in schools or in public places.

Format –

  1. A notice is always written in a box.
  2. Without any box , notice is not valid.
  3. A notice includes  systematically –

 1. Name of Organisation  2. the word ‘ NOTICE 3. Issue Date   4. Heading / Title  5. Content / body of Notice 6. Writer’s Name 7. Designation

Content / Body of Notice

A notice must be written only within 50 words / in not more than 50 words. Content of a notice must be the answer of questions

  1. What ? –  What is going to be done ?Event  –  Meeting / Exhibition….etc

2. When ? – What will be the DATE  and TIME ?Date  &  Time of Event

3. Where ? – Where is the venue / place ?Venue / Place of Event

4. How ? –    How to be organised ?Manner of Event  / Activities to be done in Event

Content/ Body of a Notice always starts with –

1.This is to inform that ….

2.This is to notify that ….

3.This is to notify all the students that …

4.This is to inform all the members that  ….

5.This is to  notify all the teachers that  ……

6.All the students are hereby informed that ….

7.All the members are hereby informed that ….

Some Essential Instructions

1.A notice is always to be written in a box.

2.A notice is to be written within  50 words / not more than 50 words.

3.Always follow the correct format of  notice.

4.Only essential content to be written in a notice, never put unessential content in a notice.

5.Notice must always be started with third person, not with first ( I & We  ) & second person  ( you ).

6.Don’t commit any grammatical error.Focus on Capital & Small letter  & tense .

Practice Question-

You are Rakesh / Rishika , secretary of Chhattisgarh Housing Board Society, Jagdalpur, Bastar.  Write a notice in not more than 50 words to be circulated to the members of the society requesting them to attend a meeting to discuss the parking of vehicles of the residents.
