OMR SHEET PDF Download | How to Fill CBSE OMR for Class 10th and 12th

Optical mark recognition (also called optical mark reading and OMR) is the process of reading information that people mark on surveys, tests and other paper documents..OMR is used to read questionnairs , multiple choice examination papers in the form of shaded areas. CBSE has decided to take Term- 1 EXAMINATION by using OMR to train students for future competitions. CBSE has issued sample format of OMR to be given in EXAMINATION.

What is OMR ?

Students / Candidates during the examination are committing many mistakes in filling OMR sheet and marking the correct response in the OMR in the examination hall . Here are methods and instructions provided by CBSE to mark correct response and fill OMR correctly.

OMR ANALYSIS

Part – 1 – Central Board of Secondary Examination, Class & Instructions

This is the first part of OMR. This part contains only the name of examination organising body i.e. Central Board of Secondary Examination, instruction to circle with black and blue ball pens only and name of class. Students should not do anything in this part of OMR. See the given image here.

Part – 2 – Personal Details

The second part of OMR contains the personal details of a student/ candidate. This part contains Roll No. of candidate both in digits and words, date of examination , name of centre examination number, name of subject & subject code number , student’s name and father’s name .

Students should not feel this part. This part is already filled by the CBSE . See the image given below-

Part –3 – OMR Bar Code & OMR No.

In this part OMR Bar code is printed and beside it, OMR Code is mentioned . You don’t haveSeen fill it .the image given below-

Part –4 – Question Paper Code

Here is a box in which you have to write down Question Paper Code mentioned at right top corner of the question paper on the front page. See here.

In the above picture, you can see Question Paper Code written in Bold Number. You have to fill this question paper code in the given box in the OMR. See here.

all the students have to fill it by writing Question paper code from Question paper. It will be like 365/1/4(mentioned in above image).

Part -5 – Some Examples of Correct/Wrong Ways of Marking

You will find some examples of correct or wrong marking. You have to take some guidance from this part to fill the answer in Response Block during marking your correct answer. See the given image below-

from this block, you have to take only guidance , so that you can be able to learn how to do correct marking without any type of error during examination in the examination hall.

Part- 6 – Response Block

In this part , you will find Response Block that is given below-

Response blockwis divided into four columns and each Response column contains 4 major parts –

1. Question No.-

This denotes number of questions given in Question Paper. Sometimes it may be more than given number of Questions in the Question Paper.

2. Response –

Response contains 4 circled options – A, B, C, D. Students have to darken one of the four options as per the correct answer of the particular Question No.

3. Asterisks (*) –

Under asterisks, there are small boxes in which students have to write correct option of the given question. Is is MANDATORY for all candidates.

4. Hashtag (#)-

This contains circled number . These Circled Number denotes attempted questions. If a candidate does not attempt any question out of the given questions, that particular circled number must be darkened by the candidate with blue or black ball pen.


Here Asterisk ( * ) means – Write Correct Option.

Here Hashtag ( # ) means – Darken the circle if Question not attempted.

Part –7 – Declaration

After Response block , there is declaration block . In this block , there are two things- 1. A statement ( I confirm that all particulars given above are correct. ) which you have to write it under this statement. 2. Candidate’s signature – Here candidate/ student have to sign in running hand.

It is mandatory to all.

Part –8 – Evaluation

This is the last portion of OMR sheet. This is not for candidates/ students. This is for evaluator, co-ordinator and Observer. Students do not touch this portion. Candidates have to leave it.
