Paresh Rawal recently shared his thoughts on OMG 2, surprising many with his comments about the film’s storyline. The actor, known for his role in the original OMG, mentioned that the sequel didn’t necessarily need a divine character to convey its message. While the first movie challenged the idea of God, Rawal felt that the sequel didn’t require the presence of a godly figure to make a similar impact. OMG 2, starring Akshay Kumar alongside Pankaj Tripathi, hit the screens in August this year.
Speaking about OMG 2, Paresh Rawal mentioned in an interview with India Today that the story might not have needed him to be a bigger hit. He acknowledged his involvement in crafting the storyline and emphasized that while the first part presented a case against God, the second part managed to stand on its own without a divine presence. He expressed contentment with the film’s success, stating, “I really want to see it, and it’s available on an OTT platform. I know the entire script and dialogues. I definitely want to see how the film’s overall impact turns out.”
Regarding the film’s box office performance, despite being certified for Adults Only (A) and clashing with another movie, Gadar 2, OMG 2 made a decent business. It commenced with an opening collection of Rs 10.26 cr and accumulated a significant opening weekend of Rs 43.11 cr. The movie’s lifetime business in India was reported at Rs 150.17 cr. Post its theatrical run, the film was released on OTT platforms, earning praise from social media users.
Paresh Rawal has been active in recent films such as Shastry Virudh Shastry and Aankh Micholi, with his upcoming appearance scheduled in Hera Pheri 3.
