Ultraviolette’s electric motorcycle completes an epic 4,200-mile adventure in just 22 days.
Indian electric motorcycle manufacturer Ultraviolette has been turning heads in the electric vehicle (EV) industry with its innovative approach to e-mobility. Instead of solely focusing on practicality and utility, the brand places a strong emphasis on preserving the classic motorcycle aesthetics while delivering impressive performance and styling.
Despite being a relative newcomer to the EV scene, Ultraviolette’s F77 electric motorcycle has already etched its name in the record books. Baala Manikandan, one of the early adopters of the F77, embarked on an ambitious journey aboard his electric steed. Over the course of 22 days, he covered a staggering distance of 4,204 miles (6,727 kilometers), traversing 14 states from Chennai to Bengaluru. Manikandan’s daily average covered an impressive 191 miles (305 kilometers).
This extraordinary journey has earned Manikandan and Ultraviolette a place in both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records, marking the F77 as the first electric motorcycle in the region to conquer such a substantial distance in such a short time. Manikandan’s adventure commenced on May 21, 2023, and was laden with challenges ranging from challenging terrains to varying weather conditions, with temperatures soaring as high as 113ºF (45º Celsius) and plummeting to as low as 5ºF (-15º Celsius). He triumphantly concluded his journey on June 12, 2023.
During his adventure, Manikandan frequently utilized the F77’s Combat Mode, a mid-performance setting. To provide context, the F77 offers three distinct power modes: Glide, Combat, and Ballistic. According to Ultraviolette, Manikandan’s journey resulted in saving approximately 71 gallons (270 liters) of fuel, and he spent a mere Rs 400 (less than $5 USD) on charging the electric motorcycle.
The Ultraviolette F77 stands out as one of India’s most exciting new electric motorcycles, boasting an impressive suite of technology. Equipped with a robust mid-mounted electric motor, it achieves a top speed of 95 miles per hour (152 kilometers per hour). The company claims a real-world range of 192 miles (307 kilometers) on a single charge, and to underscore their confidence in the product, Ultraviolette offers an industry-leading eight-year warranty on the bike.
