Following the deepfake videos of Rashmika Mandanna and Katrina Kaif, another one has surfaced online, this time involving Kajol. These deepfake videos, which manipulate original content to create seemingly real but fabricated clips, have become a widespread trend online, blurring the lines between what’s real and what’s not. Kajol’s manipulated video has now spread like wildfire across various social media platforms.
This recent controversy adds to the growing concerns surrounding deepfake technology. The manipulated clip originally showcased influencer Rosie Breen, who uploaded it on TikTok as part of the popular ‘Get Ready With Me’ trend.
This latest video comes after a similar deepfake controversy involving Rashmika Mandanna. In Kajol’s case, Breen’s face was replaced with Kajol’s in the clip, which depicted the ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ actor seemingly changing clothes on camera.
According to the fact-checking platform BOOM, the original video featuring Breen had Kajol’s face morphed into it. The report also highlighted a brief moment where the original face appeared. This video was initially uploaded on TikTok on June 5, following the “Get Ready With Me” (GRWM) trend.
The rising concerns about the misuse of deepfake technology have garnered attention, especially after similar manipulated content involving other well-known celebrities.
PM Modi expressed concern about the threat posed by deepfakes, emphasizing their potential to create chaos in society. He urged the media to educate people about deepfakes and stressed the importance of vigilance among citizens and the media. PM Modi cited an example where he saw a video of himself doing Garba, which appeared realistic, underscoring the need for vigilance in light of such incidents.
