Tata Punch EV: Anticipated Range of 325 km and Shared Features with Nexon EV

Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the Tata Punch EV, marking its entry as the next significant electric vehicle in the market. Positioned below the Nexon EV, it aims to become India’s most budget-friendly electric SUV. Expected to be available in two battery sizes – medium range and long range – the long range variant is estimated to provide an impressive 325 km range per charge for its 30 kWh battery pack version.

The Tata Punch EV is poised to serve as an alternative SUV to models like the Tiago EV and the Tigor EV. It’s speculated that the medium range Punch EV might offer a slightly lower range but with power anticipated to exceed 125 bhp.

Distinguishing itself from the Nexon EV, the Punch EV is set to feature a more upscale design. This includes specific styling tweaks such as an EV-specific grille, wheels with aero inserts, and LED headlamps reminiscent of the Nexon EV, complete with a connected light bar. Additionally, it’s expected to boast a larger touchscreen compared to the petrol Punch model, offering enhanced functionalities. Rumors also suggest a potential upgrade to the steering wheel with an illuminated logo.

Enthusiasts can look forward to premium amenities like a sunroof, wireless charging, and advanced connected car technology in the Punch EV. A significant shift would be the placement of the charging port at the front, marking a first for Tata’s electric vehicles.

When it comes to pricing, the Punch EV is anticipated to be priced below the Nexon EV but higher than the Tigor/Tiago EV. Tata Motors, known for its competitive pricing, aims to attract more buyers interested in affordable EVs within the mainstream market. This addition to Tata’s EV lineup under the Rs 25 lakh bracket is expected to bolster its sales figures, catering to the increasing demand for cost-effective electric vehicles.
