Ultraviolette F99: Unveiling the Future of Electric Motorcycles at EICMA 2023

Revolutionizing the world of electric motorcycles, Ultraviolette, a pioneering Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup, has set a new benchmark in innovation. Recently unveiled at EICMA 2023, their latest creation, the Ultraviolette F99, promises to redefine high-performance electric bikes globally.

Crafted as a fully-faired, powerhouse motorcycle, the F99 boasts a striking design enhanced with carbon fibre elements intricately woven into its bodywork. Not only do these elements contribute to its aesthetics, but they also serve functional purposes, showcasing Ultraviolette’s meticulous attention to detail and dedication to pushing the boundaries of electric motorcycle design.

Setting a new standard in aerodynamics, the F99 features an active aerodynamics package that includes the ‘air windshield’ and the groundbreaking ‘Air-Blade.’ The ‘air windshield’ ingeniously directs air towards the motor, creating a high-velocity air barrier that optimizes airflow over the rider’s helmet. Meanwhile, the ‘Air-Blade’ adjusts dynamically, enhancing downforce during cornering for superior track performance.

Beneath its sleek facade lies a robust 90 kW (120 hp) electric motor, propelling the F99 from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing three seconds. Unlike its predecessor, the F77, this liquid-cooled marvel has been engineered for both quick sprints and an impressive top speed of 265 km/h, rivaling Japanese 600cc bikes. Remarkably, despite its phenomenal performance, the F99 weighs a mere 178 kg, boasting an exceptional power-to-weight ratio.

To complement its performance, the F99 utilizes a redesigned frame and premium components like Ohlins suspension and Brembo monobloc calipers. Although specifics about its 10.3 kWh battery pack and range remain undisclosed, hints suggest an impressive range comparable to the F77, thanks in part to its 400-volt architecture, which promises reduced charging times. Consequently, safety measures and wiring have been significantly reinforced to accommodate the increased voltage.

Ultraviolette has its sights set on a global audience, with plans for the F99’s global launch in 2025 and discussions about a road-friendly version with slightly adjusted specs while retaining exhilarating performance. This bold move marks the company’s entry into the European market, following the success of European-spec F77 variants like Shadow, Laser, and Airstrike. Registrations for European customers are set to open soon, with deliveries slated for the second quarter of 2024.

The Ultraviolette F99 is more than just a motorcycle; it’s a symbol of innovation and a testament to the future of electric vehicles.
