Unveiling the Ultimate Electric Speedster: Mind-Blowing Power and Range in QJ Motor’s OAO Pro!

The advanced electric sportbike boasts a lightweight framework and a maximum power output of 14 horsepower.

In the realm of urban mobility, electric motorcycles and scooters are propelling the future forward. However, the current market predominantly offers compact scooters and utilitarian two-wheelers, a trend attributed to the escalating demand for noiseless, eco-friendly urban transportation.

Nevertheless, with ongoing advancements in battery technology, the industry is witnessing a surge in manufacturers introducing electric motorcycles tailored for excitement and leisure. An exemplary case in point is QJ Motor, a Chinese company, and its latest creation – the OAO Pro. This motorcycle might ring a bell as the QJ Motor RX, initially unveiled at EICMA 2022. Since then, it has been rebranded and refined in China to offer an improved range. The initial EICMA concept model boasted a range of 120 kilometers (75 miles), while the newly unveiled OAO Pro extends this to 170 kilometers (106 miles) per charge.

On the performance front, the OAO Pro houses a centrally mounted electric motor with an initial output of five kilowatts, roughly equivalent to seven horsepower. The motor peaks at 10 kilowatts (14 horsepower), delivering an additional surge when overtaking. It’s important to note that this bike’s actual speed sensation might outpace its numerical power, courtesy of its consistent power delivery across the entire rev range, enabling instant responses and swift acceleration. The motor draws energy from a 72-volt, 90-ampere-hour battery pack, which also benefits from regenerative braking for gradual recharging.

Impressive performance metrics translate into a top speed of 60 miles per hour for the QJ Motor OAO Pro – a commendable feat for urban commuting, though perhaps not as noteworthy for a fully-faired sportbike. Nonetheless, QJ’s intention is clear: this bike is positioned as a “sportbike-style commuter” rather than a full-fledged sportbike. In an effort to preserve the exhilarating experience of a gasoline-powered sportbike, the incorporation of a four-speed manual transmission is a noteworthy touch.

Weighing in at 164 kilograms, the QJ Motor OAO Pro boasts a comparatively light stature for an electric motorcycle. Moreover, its seat height of 780 millimeters caters to shorter riders, a trait uncommon in sportbikes. With ABS-equipped brakes ensuring confident halts and LED lights illuminating the path ahead, the bike guarantees safety. To keep riders informed, an LCD instrument cluster featuring a convenient USB socket is included.

The price tag of this high-caliber electric sportbike might raise eyebrows. Unlike the pricier yet compact electric motorcycles prevalent in the US, QJ Motor is offering the OAO Pro at an attractive price of 29,999 Yuan, approximately $4,150 USD. For those seeking premium features like fast-charging capability (four hours for a full charge), the enhanced version retails at 31,999 Yuan, roughly $4,430 USD. However, QJ’s plans for international availability of the OAO Pro remain undisclosed.
