Kia recently introduced its third all-electric vehicle, the 2025 Kia EV5, built on the E-GMP platform. This follows the success of the EV6 crossover and EV9 SUV.
The new Kia EV5 compact electric SUV made its debut at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. Details about this eco-friendly SUV will be fully revealed in October during the brand’s EV Day event.
Currently, we have an official photo gallery and some design insights from the press release. Notably, the EV5 boasts a customizable mood lighting system with 64 color options, including 10 curated by Kia’s lighting experts. This lighting syncs with driving modes, dims in low light, and alerts the driver if speeding.
The interior of the EV5 offers customizable elegance with four color and five seat pattern choices. Exterior color options include nine glossy colors and a matte Ivory Silver.
Karim Habib, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia Global Design Center, stated that the EV5 redefines compact SUV design, focusing on sustainability, performance, and driver enjoyment.
The EV5 is designed for millennial families, offering seating for five, versatility, and comfort. Its front showcases Kia’s distinctive design with LED daytime running lights.
Dimensions and technical specs are forthcoming, but based on the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the EV5 is 181.7 inches long, 73.8 inches wide, and 67.5 inches tall, with a 108.2-inch wheelbase. For comparison, the Tesla Model Y is larger.
According to The Korean Car Blog, the EV5 will feature an 82-kilowatt-hour battery with an impressive range of up to 372 miles.
The Kia EV5 is set to launch in China later this year, offering a stylish and family-friendly compact SUV option.
