Ampere Electric is preparing to launch its new electric scooter, the NXG, which has been spotted road testing. Even though the scooters were covered in stickers, a close inspection of their design, features – like body panels, lights and instrument cluster – clearly indicate that they belong to the Ampere NXG model.
The Ampere NXG electric scooter is one of the two scooters that were showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. There was also NXU, which was developed on the same platform. The Ampere NXG is a premium scooter that will take its place above the Ampere Primus.
Although specific technical details have not been officially revealed, Ampere claims that the NXG will have a mid-mounted electric motor and offer a range of 120 km. However, it is not clear whether this limit is proven or inferred. There are some other features that make it stand apart from other Ampere scooters like a larger digital display, LED lights, and seamlessly integrated pillion pegs. The NXG has an attractive body design, a spacious floorboard and a wide seat that can comfortably seat two adults.
Although complete chassis details have not been revealed yet, it is clear that the scooter rides on 12-inch alloy wheels and is equipped with a front disc brake.
The Ampere NXG electric scooter is expected to be launched this year and is expected to be priced higher than the existing Ampere Primus, which is priced at Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). When it comes to competition, the NXG will face rivals like Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, Vida V1 and the upcoming Bajaj Chetak Premium. Follow me for every news related to electric vehicle.
