Ather Energy has been teasing a new electric scooter for a while, and the latest buzz is that a test model has been seen zipping around Bengaluru. This sighting might just be the highly anticipated new Ather electric scooter. Clues from its design suggest it’s aiming to be a family-friendly ride, embracing a more conventional look.
What catches the eye on this potential Ather addition is its simple, yet family-oriented design. The scooter boasts a flat apron and side panels with clean lines. The LED headlight is neatly tucked into the front panel horizontally, mirroring the taillight on the side panel. Plus, the test model showcases a remarkably roomy floorboard, a wider and longer seat, and a practical single-piece grab-rail. Even the mirrors have received an update compared to the current Ather scooters.
Observing closely, the covered belt drive system on the left side hints at durability improvements, possibly addressing previous feedback. While the design might be different, there’s speculation that the scooter’s hardware, motor, and battery could draw inspiration from the existing 450X model. Speaking of which, the 450 series offers a range between 111km to 150km and a top speed of 90kmph – ample for regular commuting needs.
The new scooter might inherit the 450S’ Deep View display to keep costs reasonable. Alongside LED lighting, riders can expect various ride modes, informative screen displays, and smartphone connectivity.
Ather seems eager to release this scooter once it passes the production-ready tests. Moreover, the brand, headquartered in Bengaluru, is gearing up to unveil its Series 2 electric scooter in the near future. Exciting times lie ahead for electric vehicle enthusiasts!
