Kia’s latest electric offering, the 2024 Kia EV9, packs some exciting features tailored for audiophiles. Equipped with a 14-speaker Meridian sound system and an external amplifier, it promises a high-quality audio experience for music enthusiasts.
Tech-savvy drivers will appreciate the wireless connectivity of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in the EV9. An intriguing addition is the car wash mode, ensuring a thorough pre-check before entering a car wash facility, adding a touch of convenience to maintenance routines.
Much like its sibling models such as the Seltos, the EV9 sports a single expansive glass pane that houses both the instrument cluster and the infotainment unit, each boasting a generous 12.3-inch display.
Comfort is not compromised in the Kia EV9, featuring front seats with leg extenders for added relaxation while parked or during charging. These ventilated seats also include a memory function, enhancing the overall driving experience.
Inside, the EV9 maintains a conventional feel with a four-spoke steering wheel and a multi-layered dashboard, ensuring familiarity for drivers transitioning to an electric vehicle.
The EV9 comes in two variants: rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, both powered by a 99.8 kWh battery pack. The rear-wheel drive model achieves a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 9.4 seconds, boasting an impressive claimed range of 563 km. On the other hand, the AWD version accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.3 seconds, offering a claimed range of 512 km.
In terms of design, the EV9 retains much of its futuristic concept cues, presenting a bold and forward-thinking appearance from every angle. Its boxy silhouette and distinctive square-shaped wheel design, available in 19- or 21-inch configurations, contribute to its unique style. Notably, the minimalistic rear end complements the front design, accentuated by smart lighting elements.
Initially showcased in its concept form at the 2023 Auto Expo in India, the Kia EV9 has now been officially launched in select international markets, hinting at its imminent arrival in India in the near future.
