Jio AirFiber vs Airtel Xstream AirFiber: Price, Benefits, and Speed Comparison

Reliance Jio’s Recent Announcement: Jio AirFiber vs Airtel Xstream AirFiber

In a significant move during the Reliance AGM 2023, Reliance Jio unveiled its latest offering, Jio AirFiber, set to launch on September 19, coinciding with Ganesh Chaturthi. Jio AirFiber falls into the category of Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) communication systems, offering high-speed internet connectivity. Airtel Xstream AirFiber is another player in the FWA communication space, delivering 5G internet services with a user-friendly plug-and-play device.

Ease of Setup and Wire-Free Convenience

One notable advantage of both Jio AirFiber and Airtel Xstream AirFiber is their user-friendly setup. Users can install these systems themselves, eliminating the need for assistance from company representatives. Tailored for both home and office use, these systems also eliminate the hassle of dealing with wires.

Jio AirFiber vs Airtel Xstream AirFiber: Price and Availability

Airtel Xstream AirFiber is available at a price of Rs 7,733 in India, which includes a 6-month subscription to Xstream AirFiber and a refundable security deposit of Rs 2,500. However, it’s important to note that this service is currently available only in Delhi and Mumbai.

As for Jio AirFiber, its price is set to be announced on September 19, and reports suggest it may be priced at Rs 6,000. It’s worth mentioning that Jio AirFiber is expected to be around 20% cheaper than Airtel Xstream AirFiber. Details about its availability are yet to be disclosed.

Jio AirFiber vs Airtel Xstream AirFiber: Speed and Benefits

Both Jio AirFiber and Airtel Xstream AirFiber offer support for WiFi 6, which delivers significantly faster speeds compared to WiFi 5. Additionally, they provide enhanced coverage and reduced latency. Both services operate through SIM cards, meaning that the actual speeds users experience will depend on the connectivity available at their location.

Both Airtel and Jio offer dedicated mobile apps that facilitate the connection to their respective AirFiber services. These apps also allow users to identify optimal internet spots within their homes and connect multiple devices simultaneously. Furthermore, users have the option to set data usage limits for their devices.

In terms of speed, Airtel Xstream AirFiber offers a maximum speed of 100 Mbps, while Jio AirFiber promises blazing-fast 1 Gbps 5G speed.

Transforming India’s Connectivity Landscape

AirFiber technology is poised to revolutionize India’s connectivity landscape. India is one of the world’s largest consumers of data, yet its fixed broadband penetration remains relatively low, with only 1.69 people connected to fixed broadband for every 100 people. This represents a meager 9.1% penetration rate. The introduction of Jio AirFiber is expected to intensify competition and drive growth in this sector.

Tarun Pathak, Research Director at Counterpoint, highlights the significance of AirFiber technology in India, stating, “India is consuming the highest amount of data in the world…We think by the year 2028, the cumulative shipments could hit around 50 million, marking a significant shift in the broadband landscape.”

In summary, the launch of Jio AirFiber and the presence of Airtel Xstream AirFiber are poised to bring about a transformation in India’s broadband connectivity landscape, offering consumers more choices, better speeds, and improved convenience.
