Leaked Specs Hint at September Launch for Samsung Galaxy S23 FE

Samsung is rumored to be gearing up for the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, a more affordable iteration of its flagship Galaxy S23, with a potential release in September. Despite the absence of official confirmation from the company, speculation about the smartphone has been circulating for some time. The “fan-edition” (FE) series is traditionally a cost-effective alternative to the flagship models, indicating that the Galaxy S23 FE will likely come with a more budget-friendly price tag compared to the Galaxy S23. Leaked details about its key specifications have also surfaced prior to the official announcement.

According to reliable tipster Yogesh Brar on X (formerly Twitter), the Galaxy S23 FE is anticipated to boast a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED display, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate, slightly larger than the Galaxy S23’s 6.1-inch screen. Samsung might employ innovative strategies in the device’s construction to maintain competitive pricing. Additionally, there’s speculation that the Galaxy S23 FE could find its place between the Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Plus in the product lineup.

Brar’s insights suggest that the phone will be powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC or an Exynos 2200 SoC, with the choice depending on the specific region. While in the past, Qualcomm chipsets were exclusive to the US and Japanese markets, other regions like India received the Exynos version.

The camera setup on the rear of the Galaxy S23 FE is said to comprise a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 12-megapixel camera. On the front, a 10-megapixel selfie camera might be housed. Additional notable features encompass Android 13-based OneUI 5.1, a 4,500mAh battery capable of 25W fast charging, a commitment to four years of Android OS updates, wireless charging capabilities, and possibly an IP rating for dust and water resistance.

While the exact launch date remains uncertain, it’s also unclear whether the device will be introduced in the Indian market. In recent times, Samsung revamped the Galaxy S21 FE for India by equipping it with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, having initially launched it with the Exynos 2100 SoC. The Snapdragon-powered variant was priced at Rs 49,999. In contrast, the standard Galaxy S23 starts at Rs 74,999 in India, while the Galaxy S23+ begins at Rs 94,999 (for the 256GB variant).

Should Samsung proceed with the launch of the Galaxy S23 FE in India, industry observers estimate the price to fall within the range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000. It’s important to note that Samsung is yet to officially confirm the release, and there’s also a possibility that the company might not introduce a new FE variant this time around, considering that the previous year’s Galaxy S22 did not receive a fan-edition model.
