Renault Set to Launch Affordable Kwid EV Under 10 Lakh

Renault’s Strategic Move: Introducing Kwid EV and More in India

Renault is gearing up to revolutionize the Indian automotive market with its strategic plan to unveil not just one, but two innovative electric vehicles (EVs) within the next 3–4 years. The highlight of this initiative is the anticipated launch of an all-electric variant of the popular entry-level Kwid, all priced under Rs 10 lakh.

In a recent report by ET Auto, it’s revealed that Renault has big plans to introduce a total of nine new products in India over the upcoming years. This ambitious endeavor aims to solidify their market share and elevate their status in the Indian automotive landscape. These forthcoming offerings will encompass both updates to their existing lineup as well as the introduction of cutting-edge electric vehicles, aligning with the global shift towards sustainable mobility.

Renowned Figures Speak:

CEO and MD of Renault India, Venkat Mamilapalle, has confirmed this groundbreaking move. The company is on track to introduce at least two electric vehicles, with the debut of the first expected either by late next year or early 2025. The foremost vehicle in this electrifying lineup is projected to be an exciting fully-electric iteration of the ever-popular Kwid entry-level hatchback.

Kwid EV’s Competitive Edge:

The eagerly anticipated Kwid EV, inspired by its European counterpart, the Dacia Spring Electric, is poised to redefine affordability in the electric vehicle segment. Priced below Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kwid EV is set to compete with notable contenders like the Tata Tiago EV, MG Comet EV, and the Citroen eC3.

Behind the Scenes:

It’s important to note that Renault’s connection with Dacia, its parent company, facilitates a synergy that contributes to the product-sharing dynamics. This collaboration enhances the potential of the Kwid EV to revolutionize the market, aligning with Renault’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Intriguing Specifications:

Drawing inspiration from its European counterpart, the Euro-spec Spring Electric (also known as Kwid EV) comes equipped with a 26.8 kWh battery pack. This robust power source boasts a WLTP-certified range of 225 km. Notably, the battery can be rapidly charged from 0 to 80% within an hour through a 30 kW DC fast charger. The EV is powered by an electric motor generating 44 horsepower and a peak torque of 125 Nm, delivering an exhilarating driving experience.

Renault’s venture into the Indian EV market with the launch of the Kwid EV signifies a monumental leap towards sustainable and accessible electric mobility, setting new standards in both performance and affordability.
