Ather Energy, the Bangalore-based electric vehicle startup, has finally revealed the name and silhouette of its much-anticipated family-oriented electric scooter. Christened the Ather Rizta, the new scooter is set to take on the likes of the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak Premium in the Indian market.
Ather Rizta Design
The teaser image reveals a fairly flat-faced design, a departure from Ather’s sporty 450 lineup. The Rizta boasts a spacious floorboard, large 12-inch wheels at both ends, and an exceptionally long seat, alluding to its focus on comfort and practicality. Ather has promised a significant leap forward in comfort and safety with the Rizta, making it ideal for everyday commuting and family rides.
Technical Specifications
While Ather hasn’t divulged the Rizta’s technical specifications yet, the silhouette image aligns with previous spy shots. The scooter is expected to retain the mid-mounted motor configuration instead of opting for a hub motor like some competitors. Other design elements include a horizontal bar-type headlight and taillight, a chunky rear grab rail, and simpler mirrors compared to the 450 lineup.
Launch and Expected Pricing
Ather plans to officially unveil the Rizta at its Community Day 2024 event, scheduled for the coming months. The company has also trademarked the “Rishta” name, hinting at potential variants or special editions. Deliveries are expected to commence within six months of the launch, suggesting a late 2024 or early 2025 arrival.
In terms of pricing, the Ather Rizta is likely to be positioned competitively against the TVS iQube (Rs 1.34 lakh-1.40 lakh) and Bajaj Chetak Premium (Rs 1.35 lakh). With its focus on comfort, practicality, and affordability, the Rizta has the potential to disrupt the Indian electric scooter market and cater to a wider audience.
The Ather Rizta’s arrival is eagerly awaited by Indian electric vehicle enthusiasts. Its spacious design, focus on comfort, and competitive pricing make it a promising addition to the growing EV landscape. Stay tuned for further updates and the official unveiling of the Ather Rizta in the coming months!
