Power Play: Single Motor or Dual Threat?
While all-wheel-drive EVs are trendy, Mini might stick with a single motor powering the front wheels to keep the JCW lightweight and nimble. Christian Wehner, Mini’s product boss, emphasizes the balance between power and handling, hinting that go-kart-like fun remains the priority.
Expect a bump in power from the Cooper EV’s 214 hp, perhaps reaching 250 hp with the larger 54.2-kWh battery. Don’t get too excited about range just yet though. Estimates are tricky, but it’ll likely fall somewhere around 200 miles (EPA), depending on final specs.
