Ever since teaming up with KTM in 2007, Bajaj has achieved significant success globally with models like KTM’s 390 and Husqvarna’s 401 series. Following this success, the Indian company has been tasked with creating more models, including an electric scooter platform under the Husqvarna brand known as the Vektorr.
The concept of the Husky Vektorr emerged in 2021 but hasn’t received much attention since then. However, there’s new hope for this electric scooter as a recent discovery reveals a trademark filing from Bajaj for the name “Vector.” A search on India’s IP Online service confirms the trademark application for “Bajaj Vector” under Class 12 for Automobiles, Land Vehicles, Motorcycles, and Electric Vehicles, submitted on August 16, 2023 – a relatively recent development.
So, what exactly is the Bajaj Vector? Several sources indicate that it could be a new electric scooter. Yet, it’s uncertain whether it’s the Husqvarna Vektorr rebranded under Bajaj’s name.
Bajaj already markets an electric scooter called the Chetak, which has been on sale for a while. Introducing a more premium electric scooter would not only expand the range of electric two-wheelers available but also bolster Bajaj’s reputation as a trailblazer in the EV two-wheeler market. Some argue that Bajaj has lagged behind newer players like Ather and Ola Electric, and launching a premium electric scooter could help change this perception.
The demand for lightweight electric motorcycles and scooters is growing in Asia and Europe, with many mainstream manufacturers taking advantage of this trend. Therefore, it’s plausible that Bajaj is indeed working on a new electric scooter. Additionally, a prototype of a new e-scooter has been spotted testing multiple times in the past.
However, there’s also a chance that Bajaj is merely securing the Vector name for future use and may not have immediate plans to release a new model under that name. In that case, the exact outcome is as uncertain as anyone’s guess.”
