Gogoro Unveils New Crossover Electric Scooter – Here’s What You Need to Know

Meet the Gogoro Crossover electric scooter, the latest innovation from the Taiwanese mobility solutions giant, renowned for its groundbreaking swappable battery technology. Unlike anything before, the Gogoro Crossover aims to blend rugged functionality with vibrant style, marking its debut in the Indian market.

Gogoro, a pioneer in electric mobility, has gained significant traction in its native Taiwan and beyond. Now, it’s stepping into India, introducing the Gogoro Crossover exclusively for B2B customers, signaling its official physical presence in the country. This exciting addition expands Gogoro’s global lineup, ready to make an impact in a market dominated by IC engine-based vehicles alongside players like Ola, Ather, TVS, Bajaj, Ampere, Okinawa, and Hero Electric.

What sets the Gogoro Crossover apart are its three distinct variants: Crossover GX250, Crossover 50, and Crossover S. The GX250 boasts a 2.5 kW motor, hitting speeds over 60 km/h with a certified range of 111 km. Meanwhile, the Crossover 50 comes with a 5.0 kW motor, and the Crossover S offers options of either a 6.4 kW or a more powerful 7.2 kW motor. Currently available in Delhi and Goa, Gogoro plans to extend its network to Mumbai and Pune by Q1 2024.

Initially, the early batches of the Gogoro Crossover are exclusively catering to B2B customers, with passenger versions slated for availability in Q2 2024. Unveiled globally in October 2023, this electric scooter embodies its “crossover” name, serving both as an urban commuter and a robust workhorse. This unique versatility enables Gogoro to target both personal vehicle (PV) and commercial vehicle (CV) segments simultaneously.

Crafted with a steel tubular frame and featuring the longest-ever 1,400 mm wheelbase by Gogoro, the Crossover stands out. Noteworthy specifications include a ground clearance of 176 mm and a weight of 126 kg, batteries included (global spec). Sporting a distinctive design with a front apron that accommodates an optional rack for luggage, it also offers a foldable rear seat for increased cargo space and a spacious flat floorboard.

The Crossover’s practicality expands further with provisions for panniers, top boxes, and additional accessories. Its components boast RSU telescopic front forks, rear shock absorbers, 12-inch wheels, front and rear disc brakes (220 mm and 180 mm, respectively), and a mid-mounted motor, enhancing its capabilities (specs are for the global model).

Powered by two removable batteries, each weighing 10 kg, the Crossover ensures minimal downtime with its swappable batteries, complemented by ample under-seat storage. Moreover, it comes equipped with a fully digital instrument cluster, all-around LED lighting, Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones, and more exciting features.

As part of its commitment to India, Gogoro has invested USD 1.5 billion (approximately Rs. 12,300 Crore) in Maharashtra, establishing its first manufacturing facility in Aurangabad. Partnering with Hindustan Petroleum Company Limited (HPCL), Gogoro plans to host its battery-swapping stations. While prices for the B2B-focused Gogoro Crossover GX250 remain undisclosed, they will vary based on specific requirements.

Stay tuned as Gogoro sets its sights on revolutionizing the Indian electric mobility landscape with its innovative, versatile, and robust Crossover electric scooter.
